I've been using them for 10-30 years, can't recall buying any other type of filter. The question of "ease of installation” is difficult to answer because the design of the humidifier dictates the installation. However, I can say that they fit correctly and I think that gives them an appreciation for the ease of installation. Warm? I think the answer is reflected in the design of the humidifier. However, they seem to add enough moisture to feel 5 degrees warmer than if the water in the humidifier wasn't already open to the humidifier for winter.
