High Performance Emergency Response Device

Living in Southern California, you never know when the "BIG” will happen, so preparing for an earthquake or natural disaster is just common sense. It was interesting to see how many unfortunately were not prepared for the pandemic. I worry for my community if something happens that causes a major power and infrastructure outage. So the Pathway North emergency weather radio is no problem. This device can be pre-charged and ready to use via USB. It can also be charged via the solar panel and handle. There is also a compartment for three AAA batteries, simply switch the power supply from LI-ION to AAA with the switch on the bottom of the device. One thing to note here, nowhere in the so-called instruction manual is this switch mentioned, and it was in AAA mode out of the box. It took me a few minutes to figure it out after hand cranking it for a minute, but it didn't work. However, as soon as I switched to LI-ION, it turned on immediately. There is a group of eight buttons on the top: Power: (on/off) Volume: + (volume up) Volume: (volume down) Mode: (toggles AM radio, FM radio, weather and Bluetooth) Warning/Stop: (Stop playing music via Bluetooth) Up: (Tune radio stations up) Down: (Tune radio stations down) SOS/LED (Turns on the LED indicator on the handle. If the button is held down, a loud alarm sounds) It There is also a small flashlight with a power button on the side/next to it. A few other things to note: * The sound quality is what you would expect from a small device. Don't expect Bose quality, but it's not bad.* When you switch to Bluetooth mode, the unit prompts you to (I assume) connect your device. It's so loud and distorted I had no idea what it was talking about, but I was able to connect my phone. There doesn't seem to be a way to lower that volume, and when I first turned on Bluetooth, I literally jumped in the air. Finally, and what I think is the best thing about this device is that you can use it to charge your phone. Because the device can be solar or hand-powered to charge, you have the ability to stay connected in the event of a massive power outage. In general, this is a must-have for any home or travel emergency kit. Highly recommended.
