I was hesitant to buy these or the full size hoof scissors. I now have four belly pigs living with me and one of them that was recently rescued has grown a lot of hooves. It has a bigger belly but from what I've read in other reviews these seem like a better choice. Well they are definitely sharp and durable. However, I'm not sure I expected them to be that small, and my hands (also small) aren't big enough to pick up more than a couple of hooves at a time. With my relaxed, well-socialized pigs, that's not a problem. It's with my tall, nervous boy. I managed to remove part of the overgrown hoof from the back of his foot, but when I got to the main toes I forgot. All he did was piss off poor Percy, who jerked his offended leg back. It also means I have to go out and spend more money on extra equipment and I'm already emaciated - I'm saving pigs, goats and chickens. These are really powerful secateurs and I'll probably keep them just for this purpose. If you're on the borderline between these and the big editors, go big.
