Solved my problem in the bathtub
I have heavy blackout curtains that I just wanted to slide over the rod at night but keep open during the day. Attach these steel curtain clips to metal shower curtain hooks with metal beads. Works great - slides back and forth easily! However, you should take your pliers and close the loop on the curtain clips to keep them from detaching from the shower curtain hooks. Put a canopy on it and no one will guess how you did it.
