My first thoughts upon opening the package: The dress is quite heavy The material of the lace dress is scratchy (I thought more lace or crocheted) The silver metal zipper is CLEARLY visible (no fan) The slip dress feels cheap on I tried it on. The dress would be too tight on my chubby arms. It was snug but not too tight (when I adjusted them in the sleeve), it was too long for me and was below the knee (** HOWEVER ** I'm only 5ft 2in so it will with a larger frame shorter.) I knew I needed to make some adjustments to get it looking right and all the edits were surprisingly easy, thanks I painted the silver zipper black (just to soften it a bit) and the slip dress just under the bra- Lined and tucked under bra (to make dress shorter without altering it). It changed the world visually! The slip really needs to be about mid-thigh to look right. The top was also too long and didn't fit (for my figure) but we were able to pull it up under the arms and fasten it to lift the little down jacket in just the right place. I really wasn't a fan of the bow at the front. If you had a thin waist and big boobs I think it would look amazing, but I wasn't flattered. I pulled the ties almost forward and tucked them through the top a bit and then tied them in the back. It also pulled down the top dress a bit to show my curves more. The knee is very high and I didn't think I'd bother with it, but it didn't bother me at all. Actually I didn't notice it. Overall, my first impression and my end result were completely different. I was quite disappointed when I opened it but with a few SIMPLE tweaks and adjustments the dress was stunning. I got compliments all night. As a bonus, I thought the petticoat looked amazing with a sash and a sheer scarf draped over the shoulders. I also think the over will look great over a contrasting bustier or tank top with pants. There is more than one dress. I think you could make a few different outfits out of it. I'm not disappointed that I bought it and I think I'll be wearing it in different ways quite a bit.
