Looks cool. I have several compasses from Sunto, Silva and other brands. This is my first mirror compass. When opened, the packaging bears the inscription "Luminous marker for night use". After charging the glowing markers with bright light, I entered the darkened room. You can see the markings on the baseplate well, not that well, but the markings on the needle itself are indistinguishable, making them useless in a very dark situation. If you can't see the needles, you probably won't be able to see the glowing markers either. The luminosity is weak, so does not contribute to the compass. There's also a luminescent marker on the top, or maybe that's the name of the front part of the black plastic mirror cover, which has a luminescent paint hairline on it. The first time you close and open it, a strip of fluorescent paint simply came off. See image (compass on side of mouse pad). The next thing I noticed was the tactile feel of the black plastic cover. There is something "cheap" than plastic. I can't describe it, but I can tell you that there is a noticeable drop in standards on most broadcasts these days. The compass itself seems fine. It's smooth and the cushioning seems fine. The hinge feels nice and the lid stays in place well. The grading ring has a rubber grip that looks nice. There's a positive grip when turning the dial, but we'll see if it lasts. It has 3 grippy legs, I think when you use the compass on a flat surface it helps to keep it in place, all scales are standard, magnifying glass is ok. The slide definitely needs improvement. I think this will work fine for the most part. The glowing markings are by far the worst thing I see on this compass after first unboxing it. I will update this later after field testing. 4 stars for the crappy bright color.
