In the wake of my AirPods Pro's demise, I put every available TWS through its paces in an effort to locate a suitable replacement. I was looking for a TWS that was just as seamless as the AirPods pro, but didn't have the same drawback—a microphone that's so sensitive it catches up ambient noise indoors and out. Sony tried on a dozen different models, courtesy of Dr. Head, including the newest offerings from Anker, Sennheizer, and Bang & Olufsen, and ultimately concluded that it was futile to consider ratings and reviews, since the selection of TWS was a purely personal matter. The first and foremost requirement is a snug fit in the ear canal. The Bang & Olufsen E8 and E8 Sport were apparently the preferred models, which caught me off guard given how ungainly they appear. Due to the lack of a try-before-you-buy option at Dr. Head, I opted to purchase the Galaxy Buds Pro on faith, reasoning that if you don't like them, the onus would lie on B&O. I was pleasantly surprised by Samsung because they sound great, disappear when worn, have excellent noise cancellation, are cooler than AirPods in their transparent mode, and have a microphone of unparalleled quality (no background noise is picked up, I come across clearly in conversations with strangers). Everything else works as it should as well; Samsung has done a nice job with the reliability of the software, so it starts up quickly, stays connected, responds to your presses, and so on.
