I first came across this product while looking for speaker mounts for my home theater. But I realized that placing my compact camera over the monitor like a webcam could be a great alternative to tripod mounts. The truth is, yeah, she's doing a pretty good job. I used this to mount a Sony RX100 on an LG 27UN850 (which itself is mounted on a pneumatic monitor arm) directly for everyday use as a webcam mount for about four months and I've never had any concerns about the stability. Installation. I can tilt the camera just enough to put myself in the center of the frame with the monitor directly in front of me. It's fairly durable and I think it can handle a bit more weight than the RX100, but I haven't tried it so don't take my word for it. An 8 inch top bezel, the substantial edge of this shelf extends into the actual screen area by approximately 1/8 inch. This is enough to sometimes clutter up the UI on the monitor, but this can be remedied by adding something like thin strips of foam under the shelf to raise the front edge (note that this also changes the angle). One more note. is that if you use a wand pad (like me) with a little less than the surface area of the pad, it picks up dust (as you can see in my photos). I never see the top of the shelf from where I sit, so I don't care.
