Review on Edmunds Antique Thread Keeper 16 Inch Organization, Storage & Transport by Sasha Hsiao

I loved the look of this item and knew right away it had to be mine! When it arrived at my house I was a bit disappointed with the finish and quality of the wood. The finish line was terribly boring and lifeless. He shouted BORING and CHEAP! The wood wasn't smooth, but felt the spiky wood you get from super cheap lumber (like a sub-$10 garden trellis that can last a season outdoors). I did however scour the garage for supplies, then applied a nice gold stain that brings the wood back to life (a nice rich light oak color) and then "finished" it to give it a real antique look (sanded the edges, so they grow old). a bit rounder and you can even throw keys at it a few times for some light pox). Finally I applied a coat of darker, heavier oak stain/PU slightly unevenly (on purpose) and then sprayed clear polyurethane to protect the finish. In less than an hour I fell in love again. Mine has been on the shelf for almost a year now and I use it at least once a week. I keep small spools of thread on it, as well as embroidery floss, floss and a sewing stand and it's holding up great. It fits perfectly in my room and there's nothing I love more than functionality that also looks great!
