Inconsiderate

I'm old and don't see so well anymore. I needed a bigger screen to see where I was going instead of this tiny screen on my phone. The iPad mini was the perfect size and seems to fit my Mavic 2 Zoom controller. It works, but there are some features of this holder that indicate it was designed by an engineer who never used this product. First, these are the turnbuckles for adjusting the angle of the handles. You are backward. That is, to tighten them, I have to turn counterclockwise, which is not at all intuitive. They are also the type where the cocking lever can be pulled up and repositioned. Unfortunately it wobbles a lot when it's on the bolt and I'm afraid I'll turn too hard and the lever will break. And the final problem with these draw bolts is that only two of the three pivot points can be easily adjusted. The third is the one that connects the hand to the base. It uses a hex bolt and countersunk self-locking nut (see photo). The nut is not accessible with standard tools. I think it's a 7mm nut but I don't have anything that would fit in the recess. It wasn't tight enough to hold my iPad mini so I had to insert a small screwdriver into the recess to hold the nut while tightening it. You can see in the photos how it's crumpled on the edge - not comfortable at all. Nearby is the actual mount that I put my phone or iPad in. It's a smart design to hold different sizes, but obviously it hasn't been tested in real life. There is no other way to secure my iPad in the mount other than relying on tension to hold it in place. It means trusting $40 of Chinese technology with hundreds of dollars worth of computing power. To make matters worse, there is a small lip on the top clamp but none on the bottom. When I test it on a carpet, I drop the iPad controller into the clip and the neck strap keeps the holder from falling and the iPad just pops out. There isn't enough tension and nothing keeps my iPad in place except tension. Which brings me to the last issue - the strap, specifically the attachment of the strap to the mount. There are small spring clips on the strap. They only open up a little so the holder has a specific spot where the aluminum is narrow enough to fit the clamp. There are only two ways to attach the strap, up or down. In either case there will be a position that will stress the strap clip. I mounted it on top and when I hold the controller the straps hang properly, relieving the extra weight of the iPad. But when I hang the controller around my neck (e.g. when I need both hands to adjust something on the drone), the strap and mounting clip pull at an odd angle (see photo). Then there are minimal instructions, but that's typical. Products made in China. Overall, this holder works, but the adjustment and secure hold are its biggest drawbacks.
