They work well as a face mask. I find it much easier to put on and take off than tying face masks and much more comfortable than ear masks. Yes, they're not necessarily as protective as similar masks, but they get the job done. Their ease of donning and doffing makes up for their lower performance compared to N95 or other medical or cloth masks. The fabric is thin but good enough to keep water droplets out, which is the main purpose of a face covering these days. It's also very easy to breathe.
