No instructions, but it's easy enough to use trial and error to figure out what goes where. There is a parts list so you at least know everything is there. Once assembled it flies well as the tail keeps it nice and straight (important for a beach kite when the wind can change quickly). It's fairly durable, even after several swim laps when the wind has died down completely. In general, wear gloves when assembling it for the first time, and I recommend pre-assembling it before you actually intend to use it for the first time so you can get a better idea of how it works. I don't regret the purchase, I just took off the stars for the fragments and there are no instructions.
