Review on Dorman 926 321 Odometer Drive Gear by Ryan Calabro

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great Replacement Odometer Gear

Bought for 1996 Mazda B4000 pickup which is the same as Ford Ranger. My attempts so far have been to get the instrument cluster out of the junkyard, but I've suffered the same fate as a busted gearbox. The gearbox works as described. Installation requires disassembly of the part of the dashboard where the cluster is located. Once the cluster is removed the sensors need to be pulled out of the housing and finally the electric motor needs to be pulled out of the odometer assembly to replace the gear. Care must be taken when pressing the gear onto the motor shaft. As with most designs, the shaft runs through the motor and is visible from both ends of the motor. When pressing on a gear that is difficult to press on by hand, it is ideal to support the shaft from the other end in order not to damage the electric motor and not to shift the shaft in the motor.
