For some reason there is no way to turn this off completely. Even if the radio itself is switched off, the time is always displayed, which obviously consumes a lot of battery power. I've used it twice and had to put new batteries in each time, so I store the batteries separately now. If I had listened to a lot of different stations that had to be tuned in each time I would ask for a refund but since I only listen to NPR it's not that hard. For such a low price, you can use. Just.
