I'm always on the lookout for low socks (I hate when they're too high and chafe my ankles and I don't like the look of socks) but not so low that they slip off yours foot in your shoes. I'm picky about the thickness too. I can't stand to be fat, but I don't want to be too skinny either. You seem to be spot on! Low enough not to show too much of my athletic shoes, but not so low that they don't slip off my foot when walking. The thickness is spot on too (I would call it "thin" rather than "thick" but not "super thin" if that makes sense). I'll let you know when I see how well they hold up to regular washing (other "tests" socks have to pass, lol!). So far, I am very satisfied.
