This product is terrible. WILL NOT WORK FOR SHRIMP. SUCK AND KILL THEM. I recently bought a kit that makes aqueon for shrimp. The kit included this filter, light and tank. Everything went smoothly and I put 6 shrimp in the aquarium. They were all gone in about a day! I thought they were hiding but turns out this filter was sucking them in and they were ALL dead in the filter! I even took the filter apart to see if the sponge was bad or something and it was. The sponge does not prevent shrimp from entering. 1 star. Also, it makes a terrible grinding noise, I have normal filters that make less noise than this one. I will call Akeon.
