Review on πŸͺ“ Premium TIPU Axe and Saw Sling: Ultimate Bushcraft Axe Carrier with Canvas Sheath for BOREAL21 Folding Bow Saw by Melvin Goerge

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good idea execution. Not much

I bought this strap to carry my 25" wood axe, 21" Sven saw, file, washing machine and some oil, hands-free in the woods. This baldric appears to be well made from fairly durable canvas with a waxed, oiled finish. Stitching is well done and plentiful, and the D-rings, latches, and clips seem just right for the job. In practice, it doesn't work that well with the equipment listed above. When the weight of the ax (1.8 pound tip) is thrown across the body, the entire knot slips, requiring me to keep my hand on the bottom of the strap to keep the top from slipping down and off my back. When I tried just the shoulder it was worse and still required the hand to be held at the bottom of the sling to prevent it from tipping over. Also, no matter how you carry it, the two D-rings on the ax strap will rub against your back when carrying gear. I tried it upside down for fun. The ax drove much better and was quite reliable, when I tightened the strap the saw didn't fall out, but of course the not-so-small bag turned over and the file fell out. I really wanted to like it. But the design needs attention. There's probably a reason why most of these slings have the ax head going down and the ax going backwards. Needless to say, I can't carry my gear in my hands with this setup. freeEDIT: 06/08/21 - Still waiting for a refund
