Really very happy with it

So I just drove from Central Florida to upstate New York and about 600 miles of that trip was in very heavy rain and on the freeway at about 70 mph. I was nervous/excited to open the bag given the reviews I read before purchasing (I wanted a hardback but didn't get it before the trip). I opened the bag and there was water. Not much, maybe half a cup or so, and it mostly pools at the bottom. My hard-shell and lined bags were fine, but the contents of a canvas bag were a little beyond damp. I learned a thing or two from it - I bet most people who complain about it not being waterproof have it backwards. The zipper teeth are thin and fit snugly and a well-sized flap fits snugly inside the zipper. Given that LOTS of rainwater has been pushed through the valve and into the flash by 70+ mph winds for more than 600 miles, half a glass of water isn't really that bad. It was also raining heavily on the way back a week later from North Carolina to the Florida border. This time the flash was aimed at the rear of the car. To be honest, there was still water this time, but so little that it is hardly worth mentioning. Overall, considering what this thing has been through, I'm very happy with it. My mileage has barely been touched, the carrier comes with a cute little carry case and I don't have to find a place to stash a giant hard case. The material is really very durable and holds its shape well. After a very long ride and prolonged use in the rain and wind, it still looks like new. And the presence of eight straps ensures a secure fit. I am very happy with this purchase and I highly recommend it. Next time I go on a longer trip I'll pay more attention to the weather and if it looks like rain I'll put out a small tarp. (like a plastic paint liner) on the bottom of the bag before I place my luggage, then wrap the luggage before you lock it. I can't give five stars but now I know I have no real reason to get a bad case.
