Review on Audio Technica AT VM95C Moving Turntable Cartridge by Stanley Molden

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent value for money and quality!

I was looking for a "cheap" tapered pickup for playing vinyl records, which I don't want to expose to a nicer needle (because it's scratched, dirty, etc.), but at 39 US dollars, this cartridge is only $15 more expensive than the AT-3600L. I'm not an audiophile so can't speak to things like soundstage and the like but I found this cartridge to sound great out of the box on my Technics SL-1600 and the great thing is that it's interchangeable. Needle to Audio Technica's more expensive offerings in the VM95 range, making this VM95C a great introduction to this family of cartridges. Whether you're here because you're looking for a replacement cartridge for something like the AT LP-60 or LP-120, or just looking for a "racket" to play your less-loved records, this cart is great bang for the buck!

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Requires a socket
