Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very surprised at quality and function

Pros: great paper, pocket, extras included, strong cover, fountain pen friendly, large number of pagesCons: odd index, small pen loop, thin closing band. While the cons seem like big things they really are not. The pen loop is too small for my Conklin All American. However my Lamy Safary and other pens will fit fine. The closing band is a bit thin and flimsy but will work to keep things closed. The index/ table of contents is the worst con. It is two sheets but only 3 pages. It should be either 1 sheet with 2 pages or 2 sheets with 4 pages but having one of the pages blank is just a waist. So for the pros. This paper I was extremely surprised. I have used Noodler's Black and Bad Belted King Fisher. These inks are known for seriously soaking in to paper. Yet I have little to no ghosting. I have tried these inks with a Conklin All American with Fine nib, Lamy Safari with fine nib, and a Kwecko Sport with Medium nib. All with similar results. The pocket is very well built and stands up to use. The cover is very firm while being soft. It works great to hold the book while writing as I often do. The tab dividers are a nice touch. I have not used them but it is nice to see this was designed to really use.I have been using the first one for 6 months now. I am not the most prolific journaler but it is holding up very well. I will be buying more here this month to use for a farm log and brewing log. I will also buy more for regular use. I recommend this for fountain pen use. I honestly think I could go front and back with how this journal keeps up.

Pros
  • Nice and easy to write in. The green color was the same as the advertised
Cons
  • The journal may not lie flat making it hard to write
