Beautiful and durable. No sign of chipping or peeling paint after several weeks of daily use. Almost six months later, this bowl is still like new. I still use my original Taylor's of Old Bond St 3.5 oz soap which fits perfectly in the bowl. I rinse and wipe the bowl dry after each use. I assume it will last for many years. Now, after more than two years of use, the black paint has peeled off a bit. Small shavings will come out of the bottom of the bowl after the soap has been used to the point where the bottom is exposed. The outer shell stays like new. Chips are ugly in the foam, but it doesn't seriously affect the bowl's functionality. And after two years I can't complain. However, if I finally swap out this bowl, I will most likely buy another unpainted wooden bowl.
