My cat rarely used this as she prefers to sit near out heater vents to get warm when she's cold. She's probably used this 4 or 5 times total since I purchased it back in Nov 2017. To be honest, after I noticed she didn't care for it, I packed it away in a closet and completely forgot about it.It's been extremely cold the last few days in the Northeast, so I went on the hunt tonight to see where I stashed this thing. When I found it and plugged it in, the screen would not light up, and the heating pad wouldn't get warm yet the power light was lit on the handheld part of unit. I pressed all of the buttons several times on the handheld to see if the screen would light up, however it did not. Within 2 minutes, the handheld (part with buttons) made a loud popping sound, and instantly a smell of something burning. I yanked the power adapter from the wall immediately, and noticed a substantial amount of heat coming from the handheld part. I paid $30 for this thing, and it's a complete piece of crap. Something is clearly defective in the one I received, and I can only imagine what would have happened to my pet and my home had I not have been right there when this thing had an issue. Please do not buy!
