My cabinets are old and there is a ledge inside that turned out to be perfect in size and length so I didn't need the other part / just needed the lever. Make sure you don't have peeling boards or contact paper if you have old cabinets or old paint/stains etc. Since this is glue and no screws are used, you should have a solid base. If it's fluffy or weak, it'll come off with it. (Just a note because the cabinet had a plate lid and it came loose along with the lever when the cat pulled hard enough and he had to take the whole thing off and then put the new lever on top of the previous one.)
