Other reviews mention fit issues and are correct. I'm 63" tall, about 80kg (5ft 3in, 175lbs) and size L/XL was needed to ensure good hip coverage/overlap. S/M was very short, reaching just below the knees. Although it covered my waist, it stopped about mid-thigh. You must be petite and no larger than a US 8 for a smaller size to provide good coverage. The larger size fits better in every way. It covers just below my calves, plenty of shoulder room and plenty of front overlap. The sleeves hang just below my fingertips and I have to roll them up to keep them out of the way. As for the fabric, that's all you'd expect from a cotton bathrobe. Super soft but not sticky. It's modest enough for most purposes, but you should still be aware when you open the door in this robe. So the maximum size for women? Size 8 and very petite for S/M and medium 14/16 (height and weight) for L/XL.
