Update 2020: We're still using it! See updated image. He's 10 now and we'll probably get a proper tandem this year, but we'll keep the rear post and pedal straps. a year it seems. Part of the problem was that two toddlers were being pulled in two trailers. Our youngest is 3.5 this year, the middle one is almost 5 so we thought we'd buy two of these and see what we can come up with. We bought pink for our 3.5 year old daughter. She is 38" and wears a size 4T. It cannot touch the pedals even when the seat is in the lowest position. I bought a 2x3 and cut 4 blocks to fit straight into the pedal's bar and then zippered them on both sides. . Now she can reach the pedals at their lowest point, either by placing her foot on a flat block or by putting the pedal to one side. I didn't bother with pedal extensions since the 2x3 bolt is only $1.50. She still has to climb a bit to get in, but we drove about 2 miles and she had no problem stopping. The big plus is that when you have to step uphill, the baby does not pull back when the child moves in the trailer, because now they hold on to the bars. The green one was bought for our 5 year old. He is a non-verbal child with autism and additional physical disabilities. He is about 1 year old. He's 42 inches tall and wears a size 6. He can reach the pedals without locking, but doesn't make power to pedal (can't ride a tricycle). Since we can't trust him to stay on the bike, we also bought a bike seat back. and fastened the crotch strap around the harness and seat. It's a bit harder to stabilize a child who isn't cooperative, but it's not impossible, and once they start moving they won't move as much. It's way better than a kid trailer and great to see him join in like a big boy! Special gear is so incredibly expensive that it's always great to find things that can double the cost. The main downside for me is that I had to REALLY tighten the bike seat to keep it from rotating when we made turns. It was quite annoying until I got tight enough, now it's minimal but enough to annoy me. Also, my daughter won't step on it, I guess since she's already moving, she's not worried. She's a pretty strong racer on her little bike, so she could, but she won't. It's still not that hard to pull if none of the kids are helping. Overall for a normal sized kid I would buy 3+ again if you want to make adjustments and 4+ if you want them to be closer to the pedal touch on their own. Judging by my kid's size, I'm guessing that 40 inches is the bare minimum to really ride it. turns around and my seat doesn't move too much since my husband tightened it even more. So I upgraded it from 4 to 5 stars. It was a really annoying thing. I promise it can be fixed if you have an iron grip. ! :) My daughter is now pedaling like crazy and really helping. She LOVES this bike. She is 39" now and needs pedal sets maybe 2-3" bigger and I will take them off. My special needs 5 year old son is doing better too! I took the crotch strap off and it's holding up. I think next year he will try it without a seat back. He lacks the coordination to pedal fast enough, but he's trying. In fact, if I could buy this for just one of you, I would buy this for him! It's great to hear him squeak and laugh as we speed down the street. A note on further modifications to him, we removed the handlebars and flipped him over. This allows him to sit a little longer. At 44 inches, it's big enough to pedal with ease, even with a reflector on the seatpost and backrest. If in doubt, buy anyway. We had a great summer! Update: 01/31/2016 So we've had them for a few years now. Still impressed. They look great even though they live in a barn. Here are the details of where the kids are now. The little girl is now 5 years old and can ride a bike by herself. It was easy to learn, I really think it helped. We still use our bikes for longer hikes. I had to replace the tube in their tire, but we live in New Jersey and they stay in the barn in cold weather. Enough blocks on the pedals. She wears a size 6/XS and is 48 inches tall. It's funny to look at this old photo! Boy, they're growing fast. The little boy is almost 7, oops! He loves his turntable, we still use the seat back but that's all he needs now and that's mostly because we don't trust him. Don't act yet, but if we drive, he'll talk a million times more! He loves squeaking at passing cars and making all kinds of crazy noises. It's pretty funny. His pipe is still original. Both flags are lost and broken. I can't fault Viridas, the kids loved stealing them to play with. According to my rating a 5 star product. Buy and enjoy while you can!
