Is it overkill to use three on a door? No.
I have very expensive collectibles on my desk and on the shelves at my desk and unfortunately my closet has not one but TWO doors leading onto the same desk and these shelves. So, to protect these valuable items, I installed three of these stoppers, one for each hinge, for each door. Now when the door opens about 40 percent, it just stops and can't be opened anymore. It's great, I love it - just make sure you buy the right color, think about space before you order, they come in a variety of colors.
