he's not that old. Everything looked fine and well packaged out of the box, but the DIGITAL DOESN'T WORK! I have decent experience with tech repairs and to be honest the hardest part for me was removing the old glass. All connectors and ribbon cables were in good condition, properly connected, nothing damaged. The tablet turns on and looks fine BUT doesn't recognize a touch. As for the digitizer, it looks like a successful product. Now I wasted my time and money but my kid is happy because he has a new tablet! A few tips if you're trying to fix a tablet: 1. The description says to search YouTube videos for instructions, but you really won't find much for the 8th gen Fire. These tablets look similar on the outside but are very different on the inside! So don't try to follow the directions of a generation that doesn't belong to you! 2. Pay attention to the main circuit board, which you need to remove to properly attach the digitizer. 3. Don't try to do it yourself if you don't have disassembly experience. You're going to break something. Invest in better quality tools, though, because the ones that come with them are cheap and won't get you very far. For me this was not a problem as the tools were already at hand.4. Wrap the broken glass in duct tape before attempting to pick it up. It was the hardest thing for me, the glass kept falling, the shards got into my fingers. Much luck! Hope you get one that works.
