Solid meh office supplies

I have carpal tunnel and a wrist rest mouse pad at work so I bought this for my home computer and within a day of where my wrist sat I had a permanent dent. , so it's not particularly useful to me at the moment. The mouse pad I use at work has been with me for many years and there is no indentation on the palm rest. Better than nothing but overall not impressed and wouldn't recommend. The portion of the keyboard tapers just below your wrist. Why?
