I recently bought two more of these trimmers, well over a year ago. I have used it many times and still use it and it has never let me down! I have candles in several rooms, so it's handy to have a few extra wick trimmers in some of those rooms. They work simply and perfectly, but please take the time to trim the wicks carefully so as not to cut them too short and have a tissue handy to scoop up and discard the cut charcoal wicks. I keep these trimmers in drawers but they look really nice when you take them out to use. If you want you can put them on the table - they are beautiful. We must have nice things in our homes to make us happy, even wick trimmers! As a safety measure, it is also important to ensure that the wicks of our candles are cut correctly so that the flame does not rise too high due to long wicks. I can fully recommend these beautiful and very effective wick trimmers.
