THIS JACKET IS AWESOME

First let me say if you want to skip the long review and have any doubts about buying this item then go for it. I work in a warehouse in Southern California. It doesn't get really cold here, but in winter without heat you definitely have to gain weight. It's about 30 degrees here early in the morning and the two north-facing jackets I put on didn't fit. I needed something that would not only withstand the elements but also allow me to move freely. I first bought the Carhartt Women's Active Sandstone Lined WJ130 Jacket and the size XS was HUGE for me. It looked like I was wearing my dad's jacket, which was comically wide at the shoulders and too long (and well past the crotch). I understand that workwear brands don't usually cater for petite women (I'm 5'10 and 110lbs) but it was too big and I ended up returning it. That made me hesitant to buy this jacket, but I gave it a try anyway. I'm SO glad I did. The fit of this jacket, while still "a little big", is actually pretty much what you'd expect from a workwear brand and all (sorry I'm a petite woman, I skipped the kitchen and stuck to a Used to handwork - insert eye crease here) ((Carhartt, please make more clothes that fit me, Oompa-Loompas need to stay warm too)) The first day I wore it, it was 38ยฐ in the morning and quite windy. Sitting outside on a forklift, wearing a long sleeve and a light sweatshirt underneath, I felt really good. I was very warm in this jacket, and if necessary there is still room to wear a thicker hooded sweatshirt or a tight-fitting thermal jacket underneath if necessary. In terms of fit, the jacket is mid-thigh, which works great when I have to bend down without fear of annoying draughts. The sleeves are a bit long but you can button the jacket up a bit and still have lining under the cuffs to keep you warm. I was a little concerned that the sleeves aren't lined with Sherpa like the body, but that's not a problem. The hood fits well too, covers just enough of the head without looking weird and goes well with the beanie underneath. The quality of the product is just amazing. I'm considering throwing it in the wash just to soften the fabric a bit, but other than that it's great, I'm not worried about the jacket ripping if it gets snagged on a metal pole or wooden pallet. The wine color corresponds to the photos as expected. All in all, if you're out in inclement weather and need a jacket to keep you moving and warm, this is the one for you!
