I thought it was good value for money

Although it was made a bit cheaply, I found it good value for money. I ordered XL for my rescue retriever who doesn't like going outside in the rain - he's 22 inches at the shoulders and 24 inches from collar to tail. He looks weird in the pictures because we shaved him for the summer and his hair never grew back. Size XL fits him pretty well except the hood is pretty much useless when sitting - despite having a long neck. It hasn't rained since we got it but I have a good idea of how it will work - great when there's no wind and doubtful when we have a tailwind because of back tilting forward and feet up lays his back. The middle velcro under the belly has a long velcro strap, giving you plenty of wiggle room to adjust to your dog's girth. It's quite tight in the photo, but could have been a few inches looser. The fur does not interfere with his bodily functions in any way and remains completely free of waste - he does not pee or poop on the fur. It doesn't seem to bother him at all. I think maybe it makes him feel like a superhero. He can make a little noise when sliding, a nylon sliding noise, but it doesn't bother him and he's quite a skittish dog. Another reviewer complained that the buttons at the neck closure ripped out of the fabric fairly quickly. , and I see how it would be very easy. There's no reinforcement at all and the little plastic clasps are strong - they definitely won't break accidentally. If the manufacturer adds reinforcement here it will work better, but as long as you are aware of the possibility of breaching it's fine - just be careful and only pull the buttons to open, not the fabric. I slip my thumbnail between the two latches and pry it up instead of pulling on the fabric. The hood, at least for my dog, is useless. I can put it on him and he doesn't seem to mind, but he only stays until he turns his head in any direction. Maybe if it were bigger and a little heavier? I'm also thinking that I might need to put some weight on the back (I'm thinking of gluing or sewing some washers, not sure if I should sew because I'm not sure if it's ripstop nylon or if there is a hole that will grow) - the problem is that when there is wind, the back of the coat is blown forward so that his rear is no longer covered - this can be seen in one of the pictures. goals and it's really cute on it. They also include a small carry case with snap closure so you can hang them from a belt loop, lanyard loop or whatever. The first time I put it back in my bag, I spent a few minutes looking for the original origami folds to make it a perfect fit. Next time I just folded it and tucked it in, a few seconds and it worked just as well. I'm sure you'll want to wait for it to dry before putting it back in the bag so it doesn't get moldy. I may never use the pouch attachment, but it keeps the coat in a neat little pouch when not in use - convenient to tuck in a drawer or pocket.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Almost everything was ok
