Dell 7010 SFF is reliable, quiet and generates very little heat

With this machine you can shell out M$ for an office without having to buy additional hardware besides a monitor. It's very quiet, so I don't have to run it in the wiring closet. The SFF characteristics are pretty good because the footprint doesn't take up much room in my already crowded pantry. I use 2 tuners @ Hauppauge ATSC (Digital TV) for backup which is great. He will work without a head. This means I had to uninstall quite a bit of M$ software and change a lot of internal policies. None of the peripherals provided are used in this deployment, so I don't know how well they work. HID (Human Interface Devices) is provided by 4-port HDMI KVM. The machine consumes just under 50W when transcoding ATSC files (stream to presentation stream, file compression and crash recovery). The transcoding process (winff) uses 75% of all 4 cores. The latency is SAN storage (system network). The Dell 7010 processes 10 hours of video in just under 5 hours. This is a really good computer for an office environment.
