Not very effective at pest control

There are two things to consider when asking if they work. I will consider both. First of all, this is the basic functionality. Do they work in the sense that all parts work as they should? The answer to this question is yes. Second, they really do serve their intended purpose of attracting and "shooting" insects, and the answer to that question is more complicated, but overall I'm not impressed with how well they do it. I don't have a big bug problem here. , but unfortunately I have quite a lot of insects in my house, so I really wanted to try them. I strategically placed them in outlets near where I've seen the most insects and turned them on. The lights came on and I made them wait and see what would happen. Unfortunately, after about a week of waiting, I checked the "carcass dishes" of all three and found they hadn't caught anything. Somehow I like the design of the product. They're fairly unobtrusive, and you have a choice of non-flashing orange light or flashing magenta light (which I think is the only feature most people will use, although it's nice to have a choice). Anything that's "stuck" falls into a tray that slides right out of the unit, making cleaning incredibly easy (and they come with a brush to make it even easier). Unfortunately, they just don't catch anything. I wanted to see if the problem was that they couldn't attract or kill the insects, so I put a "dummy insect" in one of them. Zapper really works. Of course, it doesn't have much "juice" in it, but I suppose it would be enough to take care of a mosquito or midge. This leads me to think the problem is simply that they don't attract bugs well enough to be very functional. Too bad, because that would be a great solution for me if it were a little more efficient. I'm giving it two stars because technically it works in every sense of the word, but not very well when it comes to the intended purpose. I'll be keeping mine on for at least the rest of the summer and hope to come back and revisit this review with better news.
