Review on Master Tailgaters Chrome Tailgate Handle with Backup Camera - Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra (1999-2006) Replacement by Savoeun Ramirez

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works and looks clean; may be overpriced

There were 3-4 of these secondary backup cameras to choose from for the 2007-2013 Sierra/Silverado tailgate. at a price of 60 to 90 dollars; this one is top notch. Since I don't like doing a job twice, I decided to spend an extra $30. Now that I've got the camera installed, I'm not sure what that extra $30 could go for. Image quality is average, which I find acceptable for a rear camera. Don't watch the Superbowl through that thing. But the wires are very flimsy, no video connection adapter running from the camera to a longer video cable running the length of the truck is about 4-5 inches from convenience. Enough length for the rest, just wish they had included a longer cable that runs in the actual tailgate. There is almost NO backlash. Maybe an inch. In addition, cheaper models came with a wiring harness to protect the 20-foot video cable that ran the length of the truck. This one didn't. I was expecting this to come with a wiring harness since there were cheaper ones out there, and on install day I didn't want to wait or buy a wiring harness so I taped the entire 20ft cable with tape. A little bit frustrating. It ended up being worth $90 to me as it actually looks very factory clean and actually works. However, I would buy one that costs around $62 and save myself an additional $25-$30.
