These rechargeable AAA batteries are packaged in a plastic case and shipped in a cardboard box. The plastic case seems fine when you need it, but when you don't, it's just extra plastic junk. I tried charging them and they charged. I can't say how long they really last. One thing to know about rechargeable batteries is that the initial voltage is lower than disposable batteries, but their usable power levels off. As far as I know, disposable batteries lose their charge immediately. So they're labeled 1.2V, but they work the same as 1.5V batteries and should last longer. Do not mix with different battery types.
