Review on Certified TORCHSTAR Recessed Junction Downlight: Illuminating Your Space with Efficiency by Scott Ward

Revainrating 1 out of 5

SMALL junction box, terrible installation. DO NOT BUY.

Bad things first: 1) The built-in junction box is SMALL. Could it be 8 cubic inches? Since a normal J-Box is at least 19 cubic inches. With parallel connection (more than 1 light in a row) it is practically impossible to close the junction box. 2) It is not possible to separate the junction box from the luminaire itself, so wiring must be done AFTER the ceiling. on site. Save yourself the frustration and buy another brand that will allow you to detach the light from the junction box so you can connect (and test) your circuit before installing the ceiling. 3) Once you've snapped the lamps into place, it's almost impossible to get them back without breaking the drywall. They do not easily pull back through the hole they were installed in, rather the clips will break out of the drywall. Since it's impossible to wire and test your circuit before installing the drywall, just hope you don't have a problem or you'll break the drywall to remove the light. Advantages: 1) The light is bright and the color looks very accurate. They are good when they work! I bought enough to make my entire basement. I only installed 2 (in a small corner) then bought different bulbs to not deal with the headache they bring. no Obtain.
