Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ Enhanced Fuel Heater Kit - BD Diesel 1050348 by Israel Thurow

Upgrade from BD Flow-max, not suitable for FASS.

Installed on FASS Titanium two years ago, still a current model on Cummins. After getting stuck four times on the side of the road in 10 degree weather I decided it was necessary and yes I poured nearly half a bottle of Howes into the tank at every gas station thinking it was my problem. It's a one size kit, this one is for FASS, the others are for Air-Dog and the original idea was a BD pump. Not a very good upgrade indeed. The electrical side of the installation went great, very easy. Then it was time for the heating element, the instructions are rather miserable, it is written to install it on the water separator. Well, FASS has a long hose that runs down the middle of the filter, that won't work. It fits a regular filter, but it sits so tightly on the top of the FASS that the electrical clip touches the top unless facing the leaf springs. That in turn ties the wires very tightly, but at the moment I didn't have a choice. While the machine has been running for a while I can't tell if it's heating up or not. The heated disc is cool to the touch but puts a lot of diesel fuel back into the tank. All in all I wouldn't recommend this, maybe it will get better when BD fixes the gap issue. It may work correctly with the product it was designed for, but not with FASS.

Pros
  • Heating, ventilation and air conditioning
Cons
  • There are nuances
