Assembling my MEDIUM unit was easy, just a few bolts and screws, the pre-drilled holes matched well and all I needed was a screwdriver and pliers. I used a low powered ratchet screwdriver and a small pair of regular pliers to hold the nuts securely. It took me about an hour on my own (a petite woman in her 60s) as identification of several parts and assembly details were not immediately obvious. Like many others, I felt that the preparations for shipping this fragile home were absolutely abysmal. The incredibly thin box was torn in several places, one corner was completely exposed. The sparse packaging material would have sufficed if this awkward-to-grip crate was sturdier AND if it had some means of lifting a 60-pound load, such as a truck. B. Cutouts on two sides or a pair of plastic straps. I suspect this is the main cause of product damage that many of us experience. I was better than most with a few deep scratches on the clapboard and only two pieces of wood; one on the porch floor plank that contains the bottom edge of support for the other half of the floor, and the other is split a few inches long on a vertical support beam at the open end of the porch. Both parts will remain for now because this house is inside our large covered porch and because its only occupants will be cats. However, the hinged half of the roof failed to attach, although intact, resulting in a 3 inch gap (which narrowed to zero over time) along one edge and about half that size on the other side. The inner top panel just wasn't cut and/or attached properly to get close to the sides. But I don't care because I don't want a folding roof anyway. I prefer to remove it completely and fiddle with all the innards I have (sheets and heater). ) from the edge of the roof left a gap of at least a quarter inch above the top of the wall to allow air to be blown in, so fill material had to be invented. Not a problem, but the roof doesn't mind shifting either now, although its weight and sheltered location probably means it will never move, but I've added a small eyelet hook to one ledge on top of it anyway. While it's very pretty and has a thoughtful design that I love, I can't imagine this house made of barely glued, subtly "painted" boards could hold up. long time outdoors or indoors with the most respectful and graceful pets. Nevertheless, I recommend this device. Think of it as your basic kit to which you can easily add stabilizers, boosters, legal stains or paint, insulation or even a balcony to chill out on a sunny day.
