Great Sand: Sand

I love this sand for my new saltwater aquarium. It comes with a clarifier in a bag that you can add to the water after the tank is full. My tanks have always tolerated this sand well.

Pros
  • Good Stuff
Cons
  • Functionality

Updating - Sand

Exactly what I was hoping for! I haven't seen many people showing exactly what their sand looks like up close. I'm planning a fairly high flow tank so I went with a special strain and it looks great.

Pros
  • Useful not just for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Empty

Good grit for sand

The sand is white and does not blow with the wind / Even if my fish decide to dig a spot in the sand, the sand settles out quickly. I placed it on crushed coral and black agate, the little I didn't remove.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly

Carib Sea Reef Sand

This adds a nice color match to the original CaribSea Arag-Alive Sand. My throughput time has also been significantly reduced - two weeks on site! (CaribSea Arag-Alive Sand, 25 lbs dry, 10 lbs live)

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • A newer model could have been chosen

I'm glad I made the best of sand

I was a little skeptical when ordering as I didn't know the size or the look. I'm glad I did this, I need sand that doesn't blow too hard as I add more water movement to increase SP. I wish it was something whiter.

Pros
  • Complete set
Cons
  • Long wait

would come again - Sand

I would like to start by saying that the sand you will receive is not the one in the photo. We knew this when we bought it, so there were no problems. This is a great thing, though, for grinding a new tank. But good luck with the delivery.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Communication with the seller

Wonderful Living Sand

Arrived in cold weather, I was worried it wouldn't be active, but I didn't have to worry. This is a good product to populate a new aquarium with beneficial bacteria. 20 pounds was a substantial amount, about 14 inches long, 10 inches wide, and 2 inches thick. I assume the volume depends on the type of sand; large, loosely packed aragonite particles compared to small, tightly packed quartz particles.

Pros
  • Durable Test Results
Cons
  • Appearance

Special quality coarse grain from 1mm to 2mm. My wave generator blew around the pink sands of Fiji, revealing bare patches or high ridges. Special Grade allowed me to have minimal flow in the tank without bloating it; it is still small enough to be considered "sand". Don't be fooled into thinking that you can tolerate lesser flow just because of your sand. Please note the corresponding course and the relationship to the choice of substrate. Most sands that are smaller have niche applications…

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • I don't remember
