I bought this because I am restoring a classic car that still has the original but non-working radio in the dash. I wanted to keep it for aesthetic reasons, and I didn't want to turn the truck into a burglary target by installing a modern stereo in the dash, but I also needed a way to route the signal directly to the amplifier. I considered just running a line straight from my phone and using a bluetooth controller, but I've tried several devices and none of them worked the way I wanted or had the features I needed. This device is detachable, has a microphone for calls, an equalizer and bass/treble controls, card/memory support, charging and most importantly a line out. I can plug it in, it automatically connects to my phone and I can stream music, GPS, calls etc and send a line level signal to my amp. I have a nice color display and a volume/track knob in one convenient spot, and when I get to where I'm going I can rip out the device, slip it in my pocket, and hide the power cord. He's a little smaller than me. expected but it's up to me as the measurements were on the product page. If it was a bit bigger it would be bulky in my pocket which turns out to be a good thing. The screen is small but easy to read. The only thing I want is the brightness adjustment. Direct sunlight will wash it out a bit, but not as much. He's still reading and I'm just poking around. I also really like that there is a voltmeter on the display. I was planning to put an aftermarket sensor somewhere for this, but now I don't need it so I can keep the stock look in the cockpit. The sound quality in my first tests was excellent. Haven't used the speakerphone yet but based on the reviews it will be acceptable. Very happy to be able to find such a well executed and affordable solution to my dilemma.
