What's so sad about it is that I was happy to have moons and stars hanging on our fence. These lamps are bad. I returned and replaced the first batch. The replacement had the same problem. Attached is a picture of what the lights look like (plugged into an outlet, not battery powered). Notice how bright the stars are close to magnitude, but how faint they are at the other end. Even on the "permanent" setting, the dimmer doesn't work on any of the kits I've had. Eventually, none of the lights worked in any of the sets. Some of the moons were not illuminated. Don't waste your time.
