Review on Mounting Adhesive Industrial Strength Gripper by Amy Mcleod

Glue is weaker than Velcro?

In exchange for this review I received Heavy Duty Mounting Tape 20 Pairs 5.5cm Diameter Industrial Strength Hook Eye Dots Double Sided Adhesive Backing Pad for Carpet Grip Wall Coins. These did not impress. (Although my choice of where to use it might have been the reason.) I used it to install a phone mount on my heavily textured dashboard in my car. (It's both textured and slightly CURVED, rendering the suction cups unusable and the silicone "hooks" also not working. I needed a way to glue a flat bottom panel that could also be easily removed if needed. Well, attaching the velcro to the set was quick and easy. Simply peel and stick. After waiting 24 hours, I attached the velcro half of the base plate to the velcro on the dashboard and attached the phone holder. It seemed to work. I later attempted to remove the mounting plate and sadly saw that instead of the velcro opening the adhesive peeled off leaving me with the plate and mount in my hand, the sticky top of the velcro STILL attached to the other. half on my dashboard. I waited 24 hours for the glue to "cure" before putting any weight on the set, so that shouldn't have happened! I'm really disappointed that the manufacturers of these couldn't find an adhesive strong enough to HOLD to allow the velcro to work as expected. the glue came loose and I was holding a plate and mount, and the sticky velcro was STILL attached to the other half of my dash.
