I took the chance to buy a used washer and dryer set and definitely ran through what I thought was going to happen. After successfully replacing the hanging bars on my washing machine, I figured I could fix my dryer problems. Originally there were no plans to replace the element. In fact, all I had to do was replace the cut-off thermostat which looked like it had blown. But I decided that since the heating element had been filled with lint for so long, I would just start over. I was concerned as other reviews said the unit was "grounded" and caused a short in their unit. So I tried to make sure all parts were measuring resistance correctly, but I'm not an electrician so I wasn't sure what exactly I needed to test with the device. If you're going to install this, you'll need to be very hands-on. There are many YouTube videos online that provide information on this. I don't mind this kind of work, so I went for it. I held my breath, finally turned on the device, started the cycle and got warm! I don't know anything about the durability of the device yet, but I can dry it. clothes and no longer smell like burnt hair. I will report later on the durability of the device.
