Nice update with Alta

I've been using Alta for a few years and decided it was time for an upgrade. I waited to see what would happen with Fitbit before moving on to anything else. I'm not a big fan of smartwatches, so I wasn't interested in full-featured Fitbit products. When I saw the Charge 3 released, I thought about it. Being from Alta I was a bit worried about the size. It wasn't a problem. It's bigger, of course, but sits well on the wrist and isn't heavy at all. I had no problems with the comfort. However, I have ordered a different strap that is more in line with what I am used to. The Charge 3 has a lot more power and features than the Alta, so my opinion on it might be a bit rosier compared to those. comes from Charge 2. The battery life is excellent. The usability is excellent. The possibilities are much greater. I especially like seeing the estimated sleep stages and heart rate information. I look forward to an update that will enable SpO2 functionality. Like I said, I'm not a fan of smartwatches. I've turned off notifications on my Alta, and while I can see more details about my notifications on the Charge 3, I'll likely turn them off. I'm the type of person who doesn't need to immediately see what my phone just beeped about, as I'd rather focus my attention on the task or event at hand. I find that the vibration is quite strong. It's nice to have an altimeter again. My Fitbit One had it, but Alta ruled it out for some reason. As I pushed myself more and more up the stairs, I like to keep track of everything. One downside I'd like to point out, and enough to deduct a star, is that the auto-brightness doesn't seem to dim. adequate in low light. Driving only at night, the brightness of the display woke me up because it was right next to my eyes. As I saw one person, the brightness of the display burns like a thousand suns. I've noticed that the auto-brightness sometimes does something, but doesn't dim enough in the dark and can be quite annoying unforeseen. As this has just been released I am sure that any software bugs, missing features on watch faces found by others, auto brightness issues etc will be fixed in due course. Overall, this is a good upgrade over the Alta and I'm sure it will keep me on the Fitbit platform for a few more years.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
