Review on πŸ’“ Enhanced Health Monitoring: Withings ScanWatch - Hybrid Smartwatch with ECG, Heart Rate Sensor & Oximeter by Kevin Gunnmann

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great design, sophisticated execution. Need better guidance!

Feedback update: After using the ScanWatch for a week, I am increasing my rating from 3 to 5 (4.5 is correct). It took a little patience but everything seems to be working, most functions are good. The only problem is that the heart rate monitor sometimes gives inaccurate data during exercise. Sitting or moving slowly is safe. I've compared the results on the ScanWatch to a pulse oximeter, heart rate monitor, timer, and pedometer on other devices, and everything seems almost right. Suggestions for improvement: 1. The device should work out of the box, but no. It took calls to Withings customer service and a bit of common sense to get it all working. However, the patience paid off. 2. The statement is a joke. It should have a larger font, a walkthrough, and . Such manual may accompany the watch, or a link to such manual must be provided. 3. I bought a black dial with a diameter of 38mm. It fits well (I have a 7.25 inch wrist) but is difficult to read. The white dial looked even more difficult to read. It would be better if there were black time indications on the white dial. Withings offers this on other watches and should be offered here. 4. The watch's black vinyl strap is uncomfortable. The watch needs to be tight enough to work well. I bought one of the Withings polyester straps and the watch is much more comfortable and the packaging is lighter overall (and the "quick release" feature of the Withings straps is great). 5. Although the Healthmate app works, it lacks many features. Example: It would be nice if the app simulated the functions of the clock when the function was activated. When the pedometer or heart rate monitor is on, it would be great if the user could look at the app and see the same thing (very useful in the sun when the round digital display on the watch is hard to read). Conclusion: Withings ScanWatch is a good, simpler alternative to the Apple Watch and other competitors. It looks like a sleek watch but hides a lot of health features that most users want (I think). I've been waiting for a simpler version of the Apple Watch that focuses solely on health features (without having to strip out all the superfluous stuff I don't need in a health watch), and Withings fits right in. First review: I've been waiting It's about time the FDA approved the Withings Scanwatch's ECG feature, and last week it finally happened. Bought a Revain watch. Out of the box they are sleek (bought the 38mm version, all black) and look like a high-end watch. Smartwatch features are accessed via a circular scroll bar activated by twisting or pressing the windsock. Scanwatch links to the "Healthmate" app (I'm using the IOS version). Everything looks pretty intuitive, but unfortunately it's not. There were no options for an EKG and blood oximeter anywhere. Users are prompted to "enable" these features through Healthmate's tutorials page, but there were no tutorials when navigating to the screen. Finally, a call to the Withings support line helped. A watch reset and some remote programming brought an All Settings option to Healthmate's My Devices screen, as well as a new option called Health Features. Here I was able to activate both missing options. But the EKG and blood oximeter still didn't show up on the watch. The support person was at a loss and told me that the case would be escalated to a "specialist". I haven't heard from this person, but I was able to solve the problem by resetting the watch (go to "Settings" and press and hold the winding mechanism for a few seconds. A new menu will appear winding the mechanism and eventually the "Reset" option will appear. You hold down the movement and after five presses on the winding mechanism the watch will reset). will not appear in Healthmate until this is done. Too bad. Overall I am satisfied with the purchase after a few days. The supplied instructions are practically useless, as are the instructions in the Healthmate. I think this sleek watch will eventually become what I wanted - an attractive watch that looks like a watch but hides a number of useful smartwatch apps (in addition to ECG and SPo2, there are step and distance counters, a heart rate monitor and sleep) . assessment tools). To make that experience even better, this is a clear and comprehensive user guide. The watch didn't work right away and required tech support to get it working. This can and should be corrected. Once that happens, I think this piece of tech will be better than the Apple Watch, Fitbit, etc. Simple, sleek, and with all the essential health apps most people will need (and it'll also provide messaging and phone calls). Calls). call notifications). But it's not quite ready for prime time!
