I bought this projector primarily for use in a small planetarium (13ft diameter) and so far it has not disappointed. It has resolution and brightness and enough contrast to work well enough in a planetarium context, and the minimal diagonal it can project (around 10 inches in my experience) opens the door to multiple spherical mirror options. to show some examples of images that this projector can reproduce, but they really aren't true; They are really more of a proof of concept. The images are not distorted because of the projector, but because of the use of a spherical mirror to project onto the dome's interior. Also, blurring and ghosting are not projector inherent, but a consequence of using a second surface substellar spherical mirror. Eventually I will use a first surface spherical mirror with this projector but as such mirrors are specialty items (ordered in New Zealand) it will be some time before I can expect planetarium performance to match what it is on flat surfaces. Speaking of first-surface mirrors, because they're fragile, specialty items that ship halfway around the world mean they're -- very -- expensive, especially since large sizes are required. This is where the minimum 10-inch diagonal comes into play: since the P7 can project such a small image (and yes, it can also project huge images, but that doesn't matter in this case), it can be used with the smallest - and the most economical - the spherical first surface mirrors can be produced. It's pretty important. While not cheap, the P7 projector is not the most expensive component of a planetarium given those mirrors on the first surface.
