Inside there is a small switch that is supposed to activate the chip catcher when it is in place. This prevents operation when the trap is disabled for security reasons. You know that kids would love to start posting videos about the "pencil sharpener problem" if they hadn't built the device that way. Unfortunately, the small plastic structure on the front of the trap doesn't live up to specs. The switch will not activate. I was able to modify it (increase the height) with a needle and hot glue. Now it works fine. Poor quality control earns this machine 2 stars.
