October 2021 Edit: One year later (bought May 2020). About a month ago the LEDs started dimming like crazy. E, S, Z, I, and O are the only letter keys that are still fully lit (any non-letter keys are still fine!). I'm leaving it at a 5 star rating because it's lasted a lot longer than the Corsair board it replaced and that a "budget" keyboard can outperform one of the big boys around is for me amazing! Original Review: This review is for the Redragon K580 VATA keyboard. I'm a moderate gamer and work from home in a "call center" environment. So I needed a keyboard that could withstand heavy use. Both Logitech and Corsair have let me down over the past few years, so after several (hours of IE that turned into weeks!) video reviews, I decided to give this "unbranded" product a try as the big ones Just basing names on theirs now and releasing crappy products at insane prices. The way to this keyboard: For years I have trusted Logitech as the manufacturer of my computer peripherals. However, their gaming lineup with mechanical switches leaves a lot to be desired, so I got the Corsair K95 RGB Platinum (purchased on July 30, 2019 https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-PLATINUM-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/ B01MS0I1ZK) . A few days after receiving this keyboard, the light behind the "C" key began to dim, over time other keys began to dim, and some almost went out completely. Since it was a gift from one of my daughters, I kept using the board and trying out all the "fixes" that Corsair jokingly suggests on their forums. None of them worked, and it hasn't even been a year since I've been looking for a replacement for my $200 "premium" keyboard. I can do it myself if necessary). Dedicated volume rocker, per-key backlight, software that lets you customize the backlight for work or play (erase a color for work). These demands alone knocked all the big names out of the race. This resulted in two keyboards: the TECWARE Specter Pro keyboard (unfortunately not yet available in the USA) and this one here. Both had what I was looking for, but the Specter Pro is sleeker and has a detachable cable, but since it's not here Redragon VATA won. Review: I don't really like the unboxing, but yes, it came in a box and I took it out of said box. It has extra switches, a key puller and a switch puller. He survived a month of gaming and is still working. Games include Rust, Conan Exiles, and Rocket League to name a few. The job involves a minimum of 10 8 hour sessions browsing non-stop calls and keying in customer responses, inquiries, corrections etc. The rest of the month had regular shifts, mostly 10 calls per hour. This keyboard shows no signs of use yet and I have found confidence in it! Pros: * Solid with almost no key wobble. * Lighting is more than bright enough to see colors in bright sunlight. * The volume knob has tactile feedback when you turn it, you can feel how many "clicks" (bang?) you make up or down. * Heavy enough to stay in place (on a large mouse/keyboard pad), with zero slip.* Full size but small (no extra crap). added just in case, waste of space!) Pros and Cons: * No pass-through USB. I see this as a pro since I have USB 3.0 hubs to work with other peripherals, but some people are still stuck in the last decade I guess and might see it as a downside. lower keys. After the first night of use, I don't notice it unless I try to hear it. In conclusion I'd say so far so good and I've already started researching Redragon first for any other items I might need (free tip: wireless headsets would be a nice addition to your range!).
