Review on πŸͺ’ Braun Series 9 9293s Electric Shaver: Precision Trimmer, Rechargeable, Wet & Dry Foil Shaver - Review and Travel Case by Sandi Alexander

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Long review but much needed for a product that requires such a learning curve.

I've been using conventional and rotary shavers since day one. I tried a cheap foil shaver once and it cut my neck many times and stretched my whole face. After reading countless reviews, I decided on this expensive foil shaver. I also chose to use the new series (gold blades) instead of the old 9 series (blue blades). I didn't want the old version to distort my idea of this razor. I also didn't buy a cleaning station because I care so much about my electric razors. So they arrived and the packaging was good presentation and overall a very luxurious unboxing. Not that the box has any bearing on performance, but it's nice to see the extra little touches that come with such a premium. First I tried the razor on my face. Basically I wasn't happy. It took me a few passes and it felt like it was pulling on my hair. I don't pull, I just push. I tried it on my neck and it was a disaster. Spots and twitches and a big razor bump. I thought so because my skin in the neck area is very sensitive to the electric shaver. That's why I use the rotary for the face and the traditional manual for the neck. I was very disappointed that I felt cheated in the first few minutes. I read a few reviews and gave it another try a day or two later. This time I was fed up with my face and neck being soaked in water. The razor helped with less tugging and pulling and was smoother, but not with razor bumps or multiple passes. After a few reviews and a few more shaves, I found out the secret to this razor. First, your body adjusts to the different angle of the blades as they approach your face. I've read that a lot of people get my problems from using a style for so long and then decide to change it. Second, shaving cream, water and gels help with shaving in general, but this is a wet and dry razor and no other lubrication is needed. Third, and most importantly, the pressure on a foil razor is completely different than a rotary or handheld razor. It was a secret to me. I used to press my skin very hard and needed multiple passes. I have found that with a foil cutter all you have to do is slide it across your face. Once you get your hand used to the right amount of pressure, THIS RAZOR IS A PLEASURE! It's very smooth and never pulls or drags me again. I can't remember the last time I had a razor rash since I trained my hand to use the right amount of pressure. A daily shave takes a few minutes as you're just gliding across your face, and it typically lasts 90% of a pass. Once you get the speed, pressure, and angle right, multiple passes become rare. The trimmer on this razor is in an awkward position but works well and is great for fine detail. The included stand is convenient and keeps the shaver upright. It's also nice that the stand is a charging box and not just a pointless stand. The carrying case feels nice, but definitely doesn't have room for a charger or stand. The razor is full chrome and people have complained about it because of the fingerprints, well it's a razor not a Ferrari, you won't brag about it so I'm less concerned about fingerprints. The razor has an angle lock button but I haven't found a use for it since your face has curves and the head adjusts to your face with springs. If you don't want to read this entire review. This is a great razor, but don't lose hope until you find the perfect hand squeeze for it. Once you find it, your shave will be great, fast, rash free and very sharp.
