I bought these to try out in comparison to the traveler’s journal notebooks. The price is certainly better, and I appreciate that these are an affordable option. However, though they are labeled as fountain pen friendly, it’s clear that they aren’t quite as good as the original for use with specialty inks. The sheen and shading in these notebooks vs. the traveler’s notebooks is obviously inferior. There is still some sheen and a tiny bit of shading, but it’s much more subtle. I personally have trouble keeping a journal or planner going, and the use of interesting inks gets me more motivated to write. Because of this, I probably won’t purchase these in the future, because I just don’t enjoy writing in them as much. It would work fine for a fountain pen with a flat ink though. The lines are crisp with no feathering or spread, as far as I can tell.
